Chances are you've heard a lot of buzz lately about the newest toy phenomenon sweeping the nation. Of course, I'm talking about ZhuZhuPets. Pronounced like "Zoo Zoo Pets" these are battery operated hamsters that run on wheels around hamster trail tracks that the owner sets up for them. The company is billing them as just like a real hamster, but without the mess.
Obviously, that's a selling point meant to appeal to the parents of the target market, the children, because I don't really think that the kids themselves care a whole lot about the mess that real hamsters, or any real pets, leave behind.
ZhuZhuPets look real enough, and yes they do scamper quite cutely around the little habitrail tracks that are sold in parts, in a modular style, through the company. However, what is the true purpose of a pet? It's companionship. It's interaction. It's being able to hold the little animal up to your chin, to snuggle it against your cheek, to feel warmth and movement and a heartbeat. To see little eyes looking back at you with awareness when you look into them. This is what staves off loneliness, this is what provides companionship, this is what makes us love our pets, our real pets, and not just play with them.
In conclusion, ZhuZhuPets are very good for what they actually are - a cute toy that can provide hours of entertaining fun for a child with a good imagination. But just like a pet without the mess? Sorry. That hasn't been invented yet.

New line of motorized hamsters called ZhuZhu RockStars includes four new electronic pets: Roxie, Ryder, Pax and Kingston. These toys are not only have the names of celebrity babies, but have really cool look - mohawk hair stiles and crazy colored fur make them really unusual and high collectible.
Actually there are lots of different line and exclusive ZhuZhu Hamsters, like WildBunch line - four wild animals to make your pet world more real; the first line of four pets, who produced the awesome success; kung zhu line battling hamsters, line of baby hamster for girl - so sweet and so cute little babies can make everyone smiling. And this new RockStars line to add some freshness and glow to the ZhuZhu World.
The entire pack includes four long-haired hamsters: Roxie, Ryder, Pax and Kingston. All of them have pink fur except Kingston, he has gray coat, and all of them has very cool and somebody can say weird hair styles - multicolored mohawks. Roxie has pink with black mohawk and pink ears, she is the only one girl in the pack. Ryder has black with white mohawk and Pax - brown with white. Kingstone a little bit differs from others, because he has quite shorter mohawk and it's monochrome - only white color. As for the rest, these four guys look, sound and act like other zhu zhus, they can run back and forward, interact with habitats and kids, make funny noises and you can dress them up with new outfits, to make them even more RockStars than they already are.
There are at least 60 different pets - hamsters and animals in ZhuZhu World. And it's very good sign, because they were popular, they are popular now and they will be popular in a future. The popularity comes from their price, electronic chips inside and lots of different addons and play sets. Children love to collect and build unique constructions from the pieces, that's why it's still one of the hottest toys of this year.

The ZhuZhuPets Giant City Playset is the ideal starter set to keep children happy and amused for hours on end as they play with their pet hamsters. Included in the playset are the following items:

Hamsters are nocturnal animals, which mean that they are awake during night times and can snooze during the day. Children basically love to handle pets by carrying them, holding them, or even playing with them.
Hamsters can look really cute to little children - almost like a soft toy, and their immediate wish would be to carry it. But the danger is, if the hamster happens to be sleepy, scared, or feels threatened, it could nip the child. Hamsters are loners, and they are also shy creatures. They need to get used to people, and over time, they could feel safe with a child and not react. However, in the meantime, there are strong chances that the hamster might read a child's enthusiasm as danger and react by nipping. Since they have sharp teeth, a nip can result in a nasty wound. In such cases, immediate medical attention is required. Keeping this in mind, it is a good idea to not let children below six years handle hamsters.
The above paragraph is about the people getting hurt. The other extreme is the hamster getting injured. A child could inadvertently drop the hamster resulting in injuries to the hamster. Children do have a tendency to drop things, and in this case, they could do it because they feel frightened, ticklish, or just by accident. The result can be fatal for a dwarf hamster. It could also end up with injuries which may go unnoticed till it becomes serious.
What children really love is eating, and for them, anything they enjoy is good enough for those they love. Hence, it is likely that a child in a demonstration of love might give the hamster a lot of wrong food, or it could even give large quantities of the right food. Hamster feeding is extremely important for its overall health and well being. Therefore, a child needs to be coached on the right food, right time, and right kind of feeding for hamsters.
Hamsters are fragile animals with a life span of 1 - 3 years. Dwarf hamsters are especially small and can thus get injured easily. Children need to be taught how to carry, nuzzle, or hold a hamster. The best way to teach a child is by demonstration. By carrying it carefully and placing it in the center of your palm, you ensure that the hamster feels safe and cuddled. However, small children have very small hands and tender palms, and to them, the nails of the hamster can seem threatening. An alternative is to place the hamster on a soft surface and allow the child to look at it and maybe softly stroke it without actually carrying or handling it.
Hamster care is dependent on how much you care for the hamster. The best way to ensure that the child is happy is by supervision and coaching.
